Gen. Michael Flynn Urges DOJ to Pursue Treason Charges Against Senior Obama Officials
Retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn has publicly called for the Department of Justice to launch criminal investigations into what he described as treasonous actions by high-ranking Obama-era officials. In an appearance on the Man In America podcast last month, Flynn said that the nation cannot move forward unless there is accountability at the highest levels. “We cannot move forward unless people are held accountable, and I mean very, very senior people — and they all know who I’m talking about,” Flynn said during the interview.
The former Trump administration National Security Advisor did not mince words as he addressed what he claimed was a conspiracy within the previous administration to undermine the lawful transition of power in 2016. “Start with Obama and work your way down,” Flynn stated. “I mean… maybe you don’t throw a former president into prison — but maybe you do. Maybe somebody says, ‘Well… who directed you, John Brennan? Who directed you, Jim Clapper? Who directed you, Susan Rice?’ Under oath, under the lights.” Flynn asserted that criminal charges, including treason, could be warranted against officials who refused to disclose the chain of command behind alleged subversion of the Trump administration. “With the threat of prison, okay? And say, ‘Who directed you?’” Flynn continued. “Well… if they say nothing, okay, then that’s fine, then you’re going to go to prison. You’re going to prison… for treason, okay? Treason — that’s a very strong word; it’s a very strong word.” The general, who was once targeted by a special counsel investigation and later pardoned by President Donald Trump, argued that his case was falsely used to deflect from the true constitutional violations carried out by Obama-era operatives. “The treason was committed against me — as not just Mike Flynn, an army general, but the National Security Advisor by a duly-elected President of the United States,” Flynn said. He concluded by alleging that the transition between the Obama and Trump administrations was marred by what he believes was an orchestrated effort to sabotage the incoming commander in chief. “The outgoing administration under Barack H. Obama committed treason. They committed a conspiracy to overthrow the United States government, and it hasn’t stopped,” Flynn said. His remarks come amid renewed scrutiny of government surveillance practices and allegations of political weaponization within the intelligence community. Flynn’s statements underscore longstanding calls from some Republican lawmakers and Trump allies for investigations into the origins of the Russia probe and other conduct during the final months of the Obama presidency.
